Right now, we'll be using two ad formats: an InVideo overlay ad and a text overlay ad.
* InVideo overlay ads are Flash-based and will be targeted to publishers' content based on the relevance of advertisers' campaigns to your content. Advertisers may choose to include a companion video ad which opens when a user clicks on the overlay, pausing the content and playing a video ad within the video player. InVideo ads will compete in the Google auction and are paid on a cost-per-thousand impressions basis.
* Text overlay ads are drawn from the campaigns of AdWords advertisers and may be contextually targeted to signals in your video and your site. These ads may also be placement-targeted to your site and appear within your video streams. When contextually targeted, text overlay ads are paid on a cost-per-click basis. When placement-targeted, they are paid on a cost-per-thousand impressions basis.
First of all I realise that everybody probably has their own idea about what would be the perfect adsense size, however, I believe that there's room for one more on the horizontally-presented front.
Currently the larger formats are either 468px or 728px wide with the former displaying 2 ads and the latter displaying up to 4.
Wouldn't it be great if there was one in the middle which offered 3 ads and was about 550px-600px wide?
My site has a two-column layout, as many sites do. Assuming that a reasonable amount of space is designated for the smaller column then there's not enough space for the 728 in the main content and the 468px format leaves rather unsightly gaps on each side.
I think that it would be great if Google could put together a 3-ad version as I've suggested. It would act as a great page seperator mid-way through an article and would no doubt perform better than the 468 version which usually offers 2 ads.
Is anybody with me on this?
Thanks, Mushtaq Niazi
